POSITION: Math Specialist beginning 2026-2027 SY 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Massachusetts Certi?cation in Elementary Mathematics preferred
  2. Approximately 5 years of classroom teaching appropriate to level of position.
  3. Such alternatives to the above quali?cations as the School Committee may ?nd appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal 

JOB GOAL: To help provide the kind of instruction and learning environment that will enable each student to master the mathematics skills appropriate to age, grade level and individual capacity.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Meet the performance responsibility expectations of classroom teachers at appropriate grade levels.

 

Specialized Teaching Skills

  1. Administer diagnostic tests and evaluate math skills of new students and others referred by sta?.
  2. Analyze school math test scores.
  3. Work with classroom teachers and children in the school mathematics  program.
  4. Provides direct consultative help and training to sta?.
  5. Outside the regular classroom, teach individuals and small groups of children not able to succeed in the regular classroom math program.
  6. Prepare and conduct in-service programs on math.
  7. Orient new teachers to the math program of the school and assist as necessary.
  8. Assist sta? in selecting and evaluating materials for math.
  9. Provide suggestions for enrichment programs in math for gifted/talented children.
  10. Meet with parents/guardians to discuss the school’s math program.
  11. Keep abreast of new developments in math techniques, materials, and evaluation and inform sta?.
  12. Attend appropriate math workshops and conventions.
  13. Orient substitute teachers to school’s math program and assist as necessary.
  14. Such other duties as assigned by Principal.
