Position: BIS Newcomers Afterschool Enrichment Program Teacher
Barnstable Public Schools will provide in-person Newcomer Afterschool Enrichment Program for grades 6-7.
Program Goal: To provide enrichment activities for newcomer students in grades 6-7 to increase engagement and sense of belonging.
Job Description:
Teachers will:
- Conduct program recruitment and outreach
- Develop engaging and hands-on enrichment activities
- Deliver one hour of instruction:
- Set the theme/focus and objectives for the day
- Establish the context for problem solving and team building
- Synthesize the learning of the day, encourage setting personal learning goals for the next session and highlight student achievements
- Keep daily attendance records for purpose of grant reporting
- Provide a welcoming learning environment for students
- Accompany students for dismissal and departure
- Communicate with Families as needed
- Ensure student confidentiality
Program Duration & Anticipated Schedule
- Program Duration: October 15, 2024 - June 9, 2025
- *Note: Start Dates and number of weeks can vary by program design
- Program Time: 2:30 - 4:30 on Tuesday and/or Thursday
- .5 hrs for Program Arrival & Dismissal
- .5 hrs for Planning
- 1.0 hours for Instruction
Qualifications
- Appropriate certification and/or educational background
- Strong Planning and Organizational skills
- Dynamic, creative educator who enjoys working with youth at-risk
- Documented special skills/talents for facilitating student interests clubs and/or activities
Reports to: Director of EL
Position Type: Newcomer Afterschool Enrichment Program Teacher (Grant Funded)
Positions Available: Job determined by student enrollment (3-5)
Salary: $40/hour
