Audio Visual Technician
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Trained in the operation of a wide range of audio-visual equipment, including digital projectors, cameras,
microphones, amplifiers, speakers, and PA systems.
2. Expertise in interfacing multimedia with a variety of technology, including laptops, computers, wireless, and
streaming services and other smart devices.
3. Proficient in AV/IT cabling including installation, testing and troubleshooting.
4. Low voltage experience to include, but not limited to, termination and testing.
5. A minimum of three years’ experience in setting up audio-visual equipment in an educational environment,
K-12 preferred.
6. Familiarity with Crestron and Extron systems preferred.
7. Ability to work independently and respond to requests in a timely manner.
8. Excellent customer service skills.
9. Possession of a valid Class D Massachusetts Driver’s License.
REPORTS TO: Deputy Director of Facilities
JOB DUTIES:
1. Distribute and manage audio-visual equipment needs across all Barnstable Public Schools and facilities.
2. Assist staff in the set-up, connectivity and troubleshooting of audio-visual equipment.
3. Operate auditorium soundboards and/or lights and provide technical support as needed for school functions.
4. Set up audio-visual equipment for District and Town meetings, scholastic and school club functions, and various
athletic events.
5. Monitor lighting and sound equipment and develop a maintenance plan.
6. Maintain an inventory of current audio/visual equipment and follow the Town of Barnstable surplus process for
equipment no longer needed, damaged or obsolete.
7. Compile, maintain and update technical documentation and user guides for AV systems and platforms.
8. Assist Infrastructure Technology with low voltage/AV tickets and projects.
9. Establish a calendar for inspections to ensure that auditoriums, backstage storage, rigging and curtains are in good
working order and safety compliant.
10. Maintain written specifications on space and equipment.
11. Perform any duties or responsibilities in keeping with the scope of the position or other ancillary duties assigned
by the Deputy Director of Facilities or designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 40 hour work week, year-round, in-person position, with a flexible schedule to include
nights and weekends.
