POSITION: ACE Mathematics Teacher
Tuesdays and Thursdays; 3:00-5:30 (two 75-minute courses each of the two days) for the
remainder of the 23-24 school year.

 

JOB GOAL: The ACE Program at Barnstable High School provides a structured,
interdisciplinary, trauma-sensitive environment with a work component for students who will
thrive in a supportive small community The Mathematics Teacher will design and teach
engaging, student centered learning opportunities that support student academic achievement and
personal development.
Courses Taught:

 

ACE Integrated Math 1

 

Goal: identify and strengthen student gaps in key mathematical concepts and introduce key

 

Algebra 1 concepts
ACE Integrated Math 2
Identify and strengthen student gaps in Algebra 1 and introduce key Geometry concepts assessed
on the MCAS.

 

REPORTS TO: ACE Program Director

QUALIFICATIONS: MA State Licensure in Mathematics

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Design engaging, student-centered learning opportunities that build core academic,
critical thinking, and/or creative skills, engage with real-world issues and challenges.
2. To help students learn subject matter, skills, attitudes and appreciations that are
appropriate to their individual needs and levels of learning while helping students to
discover and develop their special talents.
3. Provide personalized academic supports that meet students where they are and challenge
them to move toward their learning edges, including but not limited to differentiating
instruction, working directly with students to identify their needs and interests, following
IEPs, and meeting EL needs
4. Create classroom environments that foster mutual respect, collaborative learning, and
positive behaviors

5. Address behavior and disciplinary issues in accordance with ACE Program policies and
procedures
6. Participate in creation and sustaining or a responsive, trauma-sensitive, asset-based,
affirming, celebratory school culture and community
7. Model ACE Program values at all times;
8. Uphold all relevant ACE Program, BHS and district policies fairly and consistently;
9. Input all required data in a timely fashion, including but not limited to attendance, grades,
and discipline data;
10. Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Typical office conditions: sitting, bending, stooping, filing, occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds
of office supplies/files. Close vision at or correctable to normal range.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Per BTA Contract
