TITLE:                       PLUMBING AND HEATING MECHANIC

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Skilled in operation, maintenance and repair of industrial and domestic boilers and burners, related to heating and hot water systems, up to 700,000 BTU;
2. Working knowledge of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems;
3. Possess Journeyman Plumbing license and familiarity with State Plumbing and Gas Codes;
4. Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimum supervision;
5. Ability to perform indoor and outdoor tasks, under adverse condition;
6. Ability to read and comprehend building plans as related to plumbing and heating specifications; layout projects for repair, replacement, or testing;
7. Possess Massachusetts driver's license and safe driving record;
8. Ability to maintain flexibility in a fast-paced work environment;
9. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

 

REPORTS TO: JOB GOAL:

 

Director, Buildings and Grounds

 

To maintain the physical school plants in a condition of operating excellence so that the full educational and community use of them may be made at all times.

 

 

SUPERVISES:                       May require supervision of a laborer.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for repair and/or replacement of all school plumbing fixtures, ie., water closets, urinals, sinks, showers, faucets, etc.;
2. Responsible for overseeing operation of heating and hot water boilers and making minor repairs and adjustments to keep them in good operating condition;
3. Keeps inventory of plumbing stock and requisitions necessary parts and supplies;
4. Oversees operation and maintenance of septic systems and backflow prevention devices and keeps a log of same;
5. Makes minor repairs to kitchen equipment, , steam kettles, dish machines, etc.;
6. Is courteous at all times to other staff, students, and the general public;
7. Perform any other duties or responsibilities in keeping with the scope of his job as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds.

Starting Pay Rate is $39.99 up to $45.59 in 5 years
