HYW Kindergarten & 1st Grade Jumpstart Summer Program -  Teacher Assistants (4)

Program Goal: Students entering Hyannis West Elementary kindergarten and 1st grade will be invited to participate in a summer session to prepare these students and their families for Kindergarten and 1st grade, school routines, expected behaviors, supports available, and allay fears.  

Position:  Teacher Assistants

Job Description:  Teacher Assistants will:

• Assist with the introduction of the incoming Kindergarten students to the classroom setting, routines, and expectations
• Assist with modeling expected behaviors in the classroom
• Assist with the delivery of age appropriate activities
• Ride the school bus in the morning and afternoon with students to model expected behaviors on the school bus
• Program staff will report to school administration

Program duration and anticipated schedule 

• August 3, 2026 – August 13, 2026
• Monday through Thursday, 8:00am - 1:00pm (5 hrs/day)
• 2 Hours Orientation
• (42 Hours Total) 

Qualifications 

• Appropriate certification and/or educational background
• Strong planning and organizational skills
